The 80s was a crazy decade. Rubik’s Cubes had kids and adults alike hooked on twisting and turning colourful blocks. Clothes were bright (so very bright!), hair was big, and nobody dare put Baby in the corner. Teenagers were singing along to Michael Jackson and Madonna on their Walkmans, spending hours cuing up mix tapes for their loved ones, and wondering if they’d ever get to ride a hoverboard.
Then the world was introduced to Graphical User Interfaces, and a novel new accessory called a “mouse”.

The dream of the paperless office was everywhere. We’d been shown the future, and it had a lot less dead trees on our desks. Documents were things you stored in digital folders on your virtual desktop and forms were something you filled in with your brand new mouse and keyboard. All very exciting at the time, we’re sure.

Fast forward 30 years and whilst the long hair and crazy clothes are long gone, we still use the same, boring forms we’ve always used. Forms with characterless, white input boxes; fiddly check boxes and radio buttons; and drab, grey “Submit buttons”. That’s the core of “Stuck in the 80s”, Typeform’s latest campaign. Let’s show the world they can have beautiful, fun forms; whilst focussing on the great parts of the 80s - the music, the video games, and the memories.
Join us by playing Form Invaders, telling your friends and family about Typeform or by tweeting #AskAwesomely and #stuck80s. Just remember that some things were best left in the 1980s (and definitely don’t cross the streams!) ;)
